Celebrating Rusty

Filling our hearts with great sadness, DemiCon's Toastmaster Emeritus Rusty Hevelin passed away on December 27, 2011. We will be celebrating his life at DemiCon 23. You are invited to participate in celebration of all things Rusty!

Ice Cream Social Celebration:
On Saturday, May 5 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the ConSuite we will be celebrating Rusty's life. Come enjoy one of Rusty's favorite treat - ICE CREAM! You can make a sundae or root beer float in his memory. SMOF about Rusty and watch Rusty's Celebration from his 85th Birthday Party.

Memorial Wall:
We have lost many loved ones throughout the years. This year we will be starting the Rusty Hevelin Memorial Wall. You are invited to donate pictures of Rusty with you or just him at DemiCon. Please keep pictures a 4x6 size. There will be a place to hang the pictures. There will also be a table where you can write your memories of Rusty and place it on the wall. At the end of the convention the pictures will be collected and placed in a book that will be sent to Gay and Joe Haldeman.

Also if you have had a loved one that attended DemiCon once and they are no longer here you can send us a picture of them and we will add them to the wall. All they have had to do was attend DemiCon once. Please contact Mandi Arthur-Struss to find out the details.

The Rusty Challenge:
Never done a costume... panel....talked to a stranger at DemiCon? Take the Rusty Challenge and do something that you have never done at DemiCon. Rusty was known for his love of all and for encouraging everyone to try something new. So we invite you to take up the Rusty Challenge and do one thing you have never done before at DemiCon.
